Wild & Scenic Rivers
Senator Feinstein’s draft California Desert Protection and Recreation Act (CDPRA) protects forever 73 miles of waterways as Wild & Scenic. These rivers and streams give life for plants and wildlife in the fragile desert ecosystem. For eons, these waters have helped sustain humans, plants, and animals, and as climate change effects increase, the rivers and streams become essential. The CDPRA would protect the following portions of rivers and streams as Wild & Scenic:
- Amargos River Wild & Scenic River Additions
- Deep Creek Proposed Wild & Scenic River
- Holcomb Creek Proposed Wild & Scenic River
- Surprise Canyon Proposed Wild & Scenic River
- Whitewater River Proposed Wild & Scenic River
